School Event On 23.2.13

School: Maktab Sultan Abu Bakar a.k.a English College Time: 7.30am to 12pm Venue: EC New Hall Events: Celebration Of Chinese New Year- Yee Sang Making Competition              Ponggal Festival- Ponggal Cooking Competition     When I first walked in to the hall, I was amazed by something colourful and kinda gaudy-looking. It was the beautiful artwork by our Indian friends, for the Ponggal Festival. It did look splendid, huh?       For those who didn't take part in any competition or performances and also our adorable Form 1 juniors, who stayed back in school last night for their Kem Intrograsi Kokurikulum, they were sitting in the new hall and enjoying the spectacular shows brought by the EC Band.       Both of the competitions started soon as the Indians gathered in the tents built in front of the hall. They made their very best try to set a blazing f...

The Reunion Dinner

It was on Chinese New Year Eve when we have the reunion dinner with our beloved family members. Every year this meal takes place in KL at one of my uncles' house, while my real hometown is located in Southern Kedah, Malaysia.   2013 seems to be a really different year for me so I wouldn't simply let my Chinese New Year passed without any special occasions. The reunion dinner's preparation started in the late afternoon. We didn't have to worry whether was there enough time for them as there were plenty of "chefs" and helpers in the kitchen.   This is Kamshiah, my uncle's housemaid, who was helping out in the busy kitchen. She was making an effort in cooking the dishes in a healthy way, meanwhile, the other "chefs" were working hard on the mouth-watering dishes, which were served on the dining table later.   There were rice, vegetables, meat, soup and other various types of toothsome dishes. The dinner started when almost all of our fam...

Business With Jean

Jean. Or you may call her A-Pair-Of-Jeans. She's my cousin. A great fan of Taylor Swift. Money-faced, arrogant as a Form 3 student and a poster seller. Overall, it's not suitable for you to befriend her.     I meet her twice a year, which fall on Chinese New Year and the Hari Raya holidays. She's a poster seller, and every piece of her poster has a heavy price tag. And still I'm not that dumb to buy from her, so we trade.     One Direction, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift that she loves the most. Jean buys plenty of magazines from any news stand she can find and pull the posters inside to put on sales in her secondary school, in Puchong, Selangor.       I've got posters on my own, some from her; some from my favourite Malaysian magazine with the best celebrities' gossips from all around the world, Galaxie. As I meant that I do not pay much interest in,  and in exchange I'll get hers, which I wish to have.     ...

CNY 2013, It Hisses!

Christmas had just passed for about one month, and now, Chinese New Year is here.   2013, the year of snake. Slithery and hissy, but still turned its poisonous dark side into mysterious wonders. 10/2 and 11/2 are the public holidays of Chinese New Year, but we've got some extra holidays for it. In my country, Malaysia, we have a special one-week add on. The thing that everyone of us envious is that the citizens of China may have their holidays for 15 days all together, almost a week more than ours. No doubt and it's China, where our festival first made its appearance.   Well, we don't have to envy people who have more holidays. Holidays make us lazy, anyone agree this point too?   Chinese New Year comes only once in a year. This reddish festival full of enterprising firecrackers is one of the children's favourite. Every time they drop by at any relatives' or friends' houses for paying visits, they can get red packets, aka "ang paus", which carry...

The Chinese Zodiac

If you're a Chinese, you'll know what I'm saying. There are 12 animals being chosen by the people in ancient China, in order to have a special zodiac for each year in every 12 years.   As you can see in the picture above, there are rat, ox, tiger, rabbit. dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, roaster, dog and pig in that order of the Chinese Zodiac. The race must been a very long time ago, even though we all knew that it's just a legend from great China.   The holy race was opened to all animals, no matter they were mammals, amphibians, reptiles or any other types. There had a cat and a rat, who were best-friend-forever. "Aren't you going for the race tomorrow?" asked the adorable little rat. "I don't think so, I'm always a dead log when I dozed off..." replied the cat. "Never mind. May me wake you you up then." as the kind-hearted rat said. "OK, Thank you, pal."     The next was a scorching sunny day. The...

The Advent Of Witch Hunters

Which movie takes our breath away at this very moment? The Last Stand? The Impossible? Or The Tower? Nope of them is. The highlight movie we have now is Hansel & Gretel: Which Hunters.   People may have the thoughts that witches are beautiful ladies who cast magical spells to help the poor. On the other hand, some say witches are those hideous old ladies who are rather evil as they kidnap children and adorable babies. In the movie, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, witches are described as the latter, but the worst is: you have to kill the fearsome creatures by beheading them!     The movie was shot based on a folklore, or you can consider it as a fairy tale, but has plenty of additional scenes that made it more wondrous in violent, horrifying for the adults in the world wide world. Hey, do you realize that I used the word "adults" just now? Obviously as I meant, the movie is only available for 18 years old and above in cinemas. So sad that I couldn't ...

"Hybrid Stars"

"Twinkle, twinkle, little stars, How I ever......", is there anyone who still remember this song? Even though this song could be considered as childish in our olden days, but it indeed stayed with us in the early days, didn't it?   Stars make their appearance in the navy blue sky at night. What if they do appear during the day? Perhaps the world of nature will be more fascinating. This Ninni from Sweden once commented at one of my posts, 'Starry, Starry Night', that she would like me to explain how I make my "Hybrid Stars". Well, to Ninni, "Sorry for making this post such late of time, hereby give my respect and apologize to you."     To make a "Hybrid Star", you need some paper strips, just like the normal ones we use to make paper stars. You shall look for two paper strips, each having the different shades of a colour (eg. pink & red, tawny & brown, orange & yellow etc.). First, tear about 1/8 of both paper stri...

SWIFT Success

People says that Taylor Swift's tastes in fashion may be predicted? Oh well, at the beginning of her career, indeed. At the time when this American Country-Pop blonde first made her step into the world of music, we definitely don't expect her to take our sight of her away from the red carpet so soon.   Born in Pennsylvania, US, in the year of 1989, Taylor is now aged 24. She's an agreeable prodigy in singing and song-writing as she has tremendous prowess of these aspects since she was just 14 years old. No doubt of being named as one of the best-mannered artistes ever, Taylor never plays any ruse to get fame or wealth. Everything she has today is all attributed to her earnest hard work.     In 2006 of her Taylor Swift album era, people said she looked hideous, her music disgusted them. But when one of her singles, Teardrops On My Guitar , was released on air, gossips stopped, nonsense vanished, comments turned good. What was going on? Taylor had proven her envio...

Things Collection

Euan is a strange person. He has strange personalities and hobbies. Euan likes to collect things. Books, stamps, coins and badges that he'll slowly collect the whole series of them.   Ever since Euan was a small kid, his his family natured him to have the hobby of collecting stamps. He then slowly collected all those stamps on the letters that were sent to his house. His stamp album, where stamps from various countries that form the series are kept. Nicely and preciously, even though there are some he hasn't finish collecting yet.   Badges. He likes them too.   Some were received from his school, English College, some from St. Jon Ambulance Malaysia, which is the society he pays great loyalty to. The one with the Smurfs on it, it's a prize he got from a contest held by Galaxie Magazine Malaysia. Don't you think it's cute? Another post that was badly done by Euan Thum.
