CNY 2013, It Hisses!

Christmas had just passed for about one month, and now, Chinese New Year is here.

2013, the year of snake. Slithery and hissy, but still turned its poisonous dark side into mysterious wonders. 10/2 and 11/2 are the public holidays of Chinese New Year, but we've got some extra holidays for it. In my country, Malaysia, we have a special one-week add on. The thing that everyone of us envious is that the citizens of China may have their holidays for 15 days all together, almost a week more than ours. No doubt and it's China, where our festival first made its appearance.

Well, we don't have to envy people who have more holidays. Holidays make us lazy, anyone agree this point too?

Chinese New Year comes only once in a year. This reddish festival full of enterprising firecrackers is one of the children's favourite. Every time they drop by at any relatives' or friends' houses for paying visits, they can get red packets, aka "ang paus", which carry money in it. Some more; some less, but still give children extraordinary happiness. The Reunion Dinner on Chinese New Year's Eve along with toothsome Mandarin cookies, both do make the people feel mouth-watering.

Traditional dances such as Lion Dance and Dragon Dance can be seen more often during CNY period. And I'm wondering, 2013 is the year of snake, why isn't there a Chinese Snake Dance?

Snakes own this year. Almost every zoo in the whole wide world, Snake Temple, which is located in Penang and even Legoland Malaysia is presenting their "hissy snakes" in the best way that make them proud. To foreigners, I would suggest you may make yourself a really special holiday in Malaysia while taking an unforgettable look at the Chinese New Year we have here. I'm sure that you'll gain enough life experience and never ever gonna regret.

Working With Passion

I've long worked behind the lens. When I started experimenting with photography almost a decade ago, I was heavily criticised for the wrong angles, the misfocused subjects, and my pointless artistry. I tried and tried without proper equipment or professional guidance, but the determination to validate my photography skills had kept me going against the currents of criticism. In the midst of helping others 'capture a moment', as I would call it, I saw myself starting to request for similar photos to be taken for me, in hopes of keeping memories of my own in photographs. One person told me once, 'You're kinda like a model'. That was about 4 years ago, when I had finished high school for a couple of months.
