You-Want's Life

Upon hearing the grievous news that Miss Shyamala would be leaving English College after an 18-year-long period of teaching, Editor Euan Thum led the BOD members of LDDS 2014 to pen a heart-felt appreaciation letter for the teacher: You turned your head and drove off in a scarlet Cerato, miles and miles away from us, never looked back as you stepped into a new chapter of your life……   18 years have gone by and it was a period when EC was blessed by your bubbly disposition and pearls of wisdom. Now that we have just lost another rose, a ravishingly blossomed one this time. Many couldn’t accept this fact, this nightmare to be real. The tears that dropped, the silence that prevailed in classes and halls, had deeply affected everyone.   It is definitely true to say that you are not just a teacher, but a sage, a parent and the law. You are like a lighthouse that shines through the darkness and guides us to the right path in life. We know handling the boys was not an e...

Time ticked lightning-fast as you know it seemed like everything just paid a sudden encounter in the brisk blink of an eye. The moment we came in as little tedious boys, we were still slow on the path to hold the grand 100 th year celebration.   But now, after a normal flip of our eyelids, our sights were enriched by the puzzles of emerald green and bright yellow of the morning sunshine – numerous flags printed with the 100 th year celebration logo were hung aloft around the school compound, and that was when we had the idea of making our theme ‘EC 100 Years’.   An act to captivate you, our long complicated 100-year history had been nicely simplified and led to an enthralling timeline puzzle of pictures and tales. Have you ever wondered how EC was back in the old days? Well, we wouldn’t know too. So that’s why we searched for quite a number of articles written decades ago to show the standard of English years ago and hoping some of the authors of the articles who wer...

INSIGNIFICANCE We think that we’re taller than mountains, and deeper than sea, With knowledge about all stuffs, including you and me. Especially when the flashlights shine, We think we are great as giants, To conquer the world, as if, we are made of gold. Minds change like the weather; lifespan are tied in our palms, We live in our own pace, slow as snails, but we don’t know! We think we can rule the world, like drummers in a band, With a hit or a bang, we can simply strive to be crowned. But oh no, such indescribable pride we have! But now I learn that, the world is bright and wide, Decorated with lights, as if it’s a Christmas tree in a party house. Just that we all did not know, because we did not get to see, The lights are far too distant about all of us. Somewhere in a great distance we cannot approach, In the drastic darkness where dozens of fireballs are hung aloft, The sky there is larger than know, spinning fast on its own pace. Jus...

Humanity Music adapted from Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off. I stay out too late Thinking why the whole world ain’t in peace There are too many killings, Em Em Why would they hurt me? Em Em. We should support humanity Respect disablility That’s the way we should be living, Em Em Fight against cruelty, Em Em. But I keep cruising, Keep on motivating And face the world with a smile And give help to those who are really needing it. ‘Cause I’ll never ever ever get pissed or miffed I’ll just bottle up my hearts for charity Send them off, to the world. If everyone can ever ever unite as one, With kindness and politeness both two in one That’s the world, light up the world. Humanity-ee-ee-ee—society—ee-ee-ee Humanity-ee-ee-ee—we’re everything with—ee-ee Humanity! By, Euan Thum.

THE LONGEST HUNT EVER and the biggest loss of our nation of the Malaysian Airlines(MAS)’s Boeing 777-200 ER airliner, MH370, started from the 8 th of March 2014. As everyone has already learnt about it from the daily news, I won’t want to blab about this for long. Let’s refer to our texts below for the rearranged and simplified details of the grievous incident and our leaders’ acts in seeking the plane.   According to the reports given off by the news reporters, the flight left KLIA at 12.41am and straight headed to its originally scheduled destination, Beijing. Flying the plane was Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah and his assistant pilot, Fariq Abdul Hamid, who both held the heavy burden of the other 237 souls onboard. Subang Air Traffic reportedly lost contact with the plane as it mysteriously disappeared all of sudden from the radar screen. Our country along side with our ‘neighbours’ including China, Vietnam and Singapore launched an immediate rescue operation with numerous...

The seven-time Grammy Awards winner, Taylor Swift, had made up her mind to continue her on-going RED Tour with seven different stops in Asia last June. Seven big cities--all with completely sold-out shows--really proved how fanatic Asian Swifties got to be.   The RED Tour put up a grand start in early 2013 across North America, including a rather long list of notable cities in America as well as Canada. The tour was then expanded to Oceania and Europe, granting more Swifties’ dreams as she used her admirably gripping voice to paint their countries red hot. Not long after her last show in London had finally got to a successful end, Taylor made the announcement about her confirmed concert dates in Asian cities in mid-February.   With the support of Cornetto (a Malaysian ice-cream company), the tour was originally brought into all five largest cities in South-East Asia only, namely Jakarta, Manila, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. But thanks to the vowing craze that g...

The past of EC, complicated yet miserable,  as it reminisced us of the period when the Japanese conquered the area,  and the time after they left. The sky, Soggy with no cloud or breeze, Capture no hope or bliss to live; The sights, Haunted but held the fear to leave, Smeared with darkness, no one could dream. MH370, the name that heated up the globe at once; the name that affected the people's hearts and mindsets; the name that caused worries and downs in us; the name that smeared drastic darkness over the locals' lives.   We witnessed the faithful, bitter tears that streamed down faces, the fingers that crossed hard and the prayers that were softly uttered. How all those people under the sun mourned and prayed for you. We never knew this would happen, or you wouldn't be gone for this long, with not even a last farewell bade.   The families and friends have had considered the worst thoughts their sins could ever bring them, but still, expectations for a miracle couldn't get to be thinner. Even for the tiniest chance for their beloved ones' survival, they hoped against hope.   Was it really fate that separated us apart, or was the tale told hiding something darker behind? Things we wouldn't know, as the authorities just needed time to fade them away. Our coun...

The whole world was trending about the missing Malaysian aircraft MH370, who would be there to care about the music showbiz? But…could you believe it? Taylor Swift is coming to Asia. Wow! To such a long list of countries in South-East Asia some more! My lips pushed each other way with an undeniably immense power and I even almost lost my breath upon hearing the shocking news.   I mean, could you believe it? Taylor is coming here for her Red Tour Asian Leg this June, which includes seven cities, namely Shanghai, Tokyo, Jakarta, Manila, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. And the most shocking idea I’ve ever had, I’ll be going to the Singapore stop, which is set to be on the 12 th of June. Whoa! I’m meeting Taylor—the wildest dream all Swifties could ever dream of.   I think that, it’s definitely a golden opportunity for me this time, with the show date hanging around my birthday, and thanking-gad, my Dad sponsored half of my ticket price. Jeez…I’m almost bankrupt now...

The world spins in a lightning-fast speed, and that just simply made one second a little not enough for everything to encounter.   Smoke screen of lies are set everywhere, all can't be seen nor can't be sensed. A single word can change the meaning of a whole paragraph, so, who will exactly understand the story behind? Humans are sensible beings and their feelings are the very essence of their own. Heavenly, purgatory, enchanting or traumatic. We should have them all written down, right before fate can push us out of this world.   The negativity devours the positivity, one by one, making our lives full of petrifying danger and treachery. Demons enjoy reading people's diaries and leave them lying to the universe, just to attack them from their victims' hearts, cheap tricks, lousy traps. I will still say that the surrounding atmosphere is a tough cry, 'cuz no one is there to influence me the good things when someone is there to influence me the bad stuff.  ...

The world spins in a lightning-fast speed, and that just simply made one second a little not enough for everything to encounter.       Anything graceful or dreadful could happen in the brisk blink o an eye. A chapter ended while a new era began; love was accepted but broke down again; happiness and hatred rose from its base as the shining stars stole my smiles away. Full-term memory turned out to be one whole waste in me, and no one was ever there for me while her music did.   All that decorated my sky was the moon which looked so round and shined luminously in the hopes pitch black, like a old classic crystal hung aloft by the fair deity of love & peace. But where were my silent nights again? Since all the stars had appeared out of thin air. I was on something better but that only made me feel bad. I couldn't open my eyes and see the morning sunlight that blazed so bright, as I had to deal with people with my tired, lifeless eyes full of invisible scr...

Tall, dark and looked precisely dashing in his tailor-made first-aider uniform, he carried a well-stuffed kit box and hurried to the victims' sides, just like Superman, flying around to anyone's aid.   He didn't know me; I didn't know him. Just uncountable coincidences of meetings at unexpected venues at unexpected time. Such mysterious, he was always there when I was there too, like he's been stalking to the schedule of my life.   He was there when I decided to go and stand by to save people out there; One fine day I went to CS to a property fair and he was there again, working as a volunteer. Jeez, how embarrassing and awkward my attire was that day, it was actually my Mum's choice of fashion and it was her who made me wear that, or I would've gone out in my favourite navy blue jeans.   Something in his deep brown eyes kept on shouting, "I'm curious!" to the world, but I knew nothing about it so I just simply smiled whenever I was caug...

Gambling, is, literally something like a missing piece of luck, that is always so miserable to be guessed. A short glimpse of the winning charts appeals to your craving hearts.   You think that, you're on it, just when you simply strike a minor win, but, you're not. All you have in mind is that the next one will definitely be a better one. There's an invisible force that pulls you towards the greed for gold. You want to know; You want to take the risk; You want to win.   But luck and fate never side one for long. The rate of triumph vibrates like those bouncing air molecules. Spade takes the lead of all, unrelenting, turnaciously, hopelessly, to the game of your destructing future.   My advice, get at least double the money you put on the bar and make yourself scarce. Don't ever fall too much for the whole crap and stand the opportunity to be corrupted by any of its convincing magic. Leave at the right point and don't ask for more. It's MONEY, you can c...
