A gold medal for ten years of practice. Ye Shiwen, a swimmer from China, who is only 16 years old, seized a gold medal on last Saturday in the women's 400m individual medley. She also broke the previous world record of 4: 29.45s with 4:28.43s.    Shiwen started learning swimming when she was 6. She was told by her coach, who discovered her talent, that she could get a chance to take part in Olympics if she works hard.   She always has a dream of winning a gold medal at the Olympics, so this time it was a dream come true. She had even broken the previous world record set by Australian Stephanie Rice at the Beijing Games in 2008.   On the other hand, Sun Yang, 20, scored another gold in the men’s 400m freestyle for China on the same day. He became the first man of China the Olympics gold for swimming.   What do we need to pay for a gold medal, wealth and fame? With our money? No, it's our time and hard work. Ye Shiwen had proven this to all of...

A 100-year-old school is old. My school, English college, in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, is turning 100 years old in 2014. As it was built about a century ago, the Japanese were there during the Japanese Occupation too.   According to the record, the school building was painted black and used as a factory at that time. After that, it was a military hospital for the wounded British soldiers. And yeah, many of them passed away right there.   Block B, the double storey block, is one of the oldest blocks. This block is pretty famous for paranormal cases as it used to be the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the military hospital. When we were in the classroom downstairs, we could often hear strange sounds like footsteps and chairs or tables being dragged around upstairs even though there's no one in the classroom up there.   Teachers and students' ghostly encounters in this school, especially at Block B, had made the records longer and longer. Many people don't believ...

The pop-singer, Katy Perry divorced after a few years of marriage, just because she was not happy at all with her husband, Russell Brand, who seemed to be hating her till now even though they'd officially divorced last year.   She released her third album, Teenage Dream , two years ago and she's releasing it with a new version called Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection , which included her 8 singles: California Girls , Teenage Dream , Part Of Me and more.   The song Part Of Me garnered generally positive reviews for Katy's "Girl Power" message. Its lyrics describe a female protagonist who declares herself as un-breakable and strong following a dramatic break-up. But not long ago, people said Katy cheated everyone that the song was written for a swipe at her ex-husband, with the purpose of selling more albums. But she denied and said that she wrote the song two years ago, it's just a coincidence.    Soon, Katy will have her movie Katy Perr...

After 4 years from the last Olympic Games which was held in Beijing, China in the year 2008, the 2012 Olympic Games in London is now 3 days to go. I'd believe that most people in the world are so excited about the advent of it. Many countries are also celebrating the mirth of the games since the last few weeks when the torch-passing ceremonies began.   We got two lovely mascots for this year, whose names are Wenlock and Mandeville. They are animations depicting two drops of steel from a steelwork. It's a very nice symbol for this year and people like it.   The games is going to start on 27th July 2012. Each country players are now practising hard everyday so is our Malaysian badminton player, Datuk Lee Chong Wei, who is now using all his efforts on practising in England. He got a silver medal for Malaysia four years ago in Beijing, and now he's aiming for the first gold medal of Malaysia.   On the other hand, Pandelela Rinong, the Malaysian diver an...

What will come into your mind when we're talking about Japan? Sakura? Sushi? No! It's Anime! Japan is always famous for it's very own Anime as they draw them so nicely and we can even watch them in our country, Malaysia. Most probably you have spent your whole childhood on it.   An Anime refers to the cartoon that that is based on a manga (comic), often with a science fiction subject. An original Anime is voiced by Japanese actors in Japanese, but a lot of them are now translated into many different languages so that we can understand what are they talking about.   There are plenty of fantastic Animes released out in these few years such as Naruto , Hitman Reborn , My Neighbour, Totoro , One Piece , Sugar, Sugar Rune , Fairy Tail and many more that are interesting and you might know if you're a Anime-lover. Hitman Reborn                     ...

The last time we saw S.H.E on stage was about two years ago before Selina Ren met with an accident, which was the most frightening nightmare for her. But now, she has fully gotten well and S.H.E is back.   The leader of the band, Selina Ren, met with an accident and got 70% of her body burned when she's filming a show, I Have A Date With Spring in 2010. She was immediately warded in a hospital in Shanghai and stayed there for treatments and plastic surgeries. After about 1 year plus in the hospital, she married to a lawyer last year. And she's now a happy lady who enjoys her life with her husband.   Hebe Tian, who is still single, has been recording songs for her two very own albums, Love and My Love , which are released out with plenty of nice songs in the last two years.   As for the third girl, Ella Chen, she became the wife of Alvin Lai. She has grown up a lot and she's now prettier, more feminine and even more sexier.    Many of S.H.E's son...

I'd truly believe that most people had seen before the new Malaysian coins and the RM50 notes, which had been out for months and years. Our Bank Negara declared that the rest of the third series Malaysian notes would be out on the 16th of July 2012, which was yesterday.   With the theme of "Distinctively Malaysia", the back of the notes are printed with beautiful images of nature, history and heritage of culture in Malaysia such as the hornbills, the Rafflesia flowers, the Wau and so on.   And after more than 2 decades of keeping away the RM20 note by Bank Negara , they are now back with the colour of peachy orange and the picture of Leatherback Turtles.   The new notes are printed in different colours and with awesome images. Each of the new coins is also made of different metals, crafted with fantastic pictures that own meanings and names which are Sulur Kacang, Bunga Melur, Motif Orang Asli and Destar Siga.   Every design of the notes and coins ...

Another Disney& Pixar movie has been out in cinemas for weeks. As the name of the movie--Brave, Princess Merida (voiced by Kelly Macdonald), the female lead of the show, is really brave to save her family from all kinds of danger.   Well, I haven't watch the movie yet, but only with the trailer, I really think that you'll like it.   Brave is a story that happened in Scotland, where Merida's parents betrothed her to the first-born son of her father's allied clans. Merida made a scene in the Highland Games when they proved their talent in archery with the purpose of winning Merida's hands.   But after Merida realized what she did, she ran into the forest and she met an evil witch who disguised herself as a wood craver. After some bargaining, the witch gave her a piece of cake that could change the girl's fate.   I don't know what will happen next, but you can check it out by catching the movie in any cinema in Malaysia with the 3D effe...
